Trading Range:

Nifty opened gap down at 10334 on Wednesday and made a high and low of 10545 and 10334 respectively before closing flat at 10458.

Review/Outlook:

For the day, support for Nifty exists at 10200 and 10000 levels whereas resistance for Nifty stands at 10550 and 10650 levels.

Review/Outlook:

Bank Nifty opened a gap down at 26273, made a high of 26791, low of 26234, and closed flat to positive at 26488. For the day, support for Bank Nifty exists at 25800 and 25500 levels whereas resistance for Bank Nifty stands at 27000 and 27500 levels.

Tata Power said that it has put off plans to shut down the 4000 MW Mundra Power until March 20 after assurances were given by the Centre. (BL).
Drug firm Cadila Healthcare on Wednesday said its board has approved the transfer of its animal healthcare business to its wholly-owned arm Zydus Animal Health and Investments Ltd (ZAHL) as part of its internal restructuring exercise. (ET).
Biotechnology major Biocon on Wednesday said a US court has invalidated a Sanofi patent on the insulin glargine device, thus removing a legal hurdle to commercialising Semglee co-developed with Mylan, in the US market. (BL).
Bajaj Auto on Wednesday launched the Dominar 250, a variant of the proven Dominar Sports Tourer, at a price of Rs.1,60,000 (ex-showroom in Delhi). The BS-6 compliant new Dominar 250 is available across all Bajaj Auto dealerships in dual channel ABS variant with ‘canyon red’ and ‘vine black’ colour options, the company said in a statement. (ET).
Welspun Corp on Wednesday said it has bagged a major offshore pipes supply contract for a project in Australia from Allseas Marine Contractors. The project is owned by a joint venture, which comprises ConocoPhillips Australia, SK E&S Australia and Santos Offshore. (BL).
Reliance Group has no direct or indirect exposure to Former YES Bank CEO Rana Kapoor, his wife, daughters, or any entities controlled by Kapoor or his family, Anil Ambani group said in a statement. (ET).
Thomas Cook India has seen a 30 per cent increase in demand for outdoor-adventure travel from Indian consumers. (BL).
JSW Steel on Wednesday said it has registered a growth of five per cent in crude steel production at 1.320 MT in February 2020. The company had produced 1.257 million tonne (MT) crude steel during the same period last year, it said in a filing to the BSE. The output of flat rolled products also rose seven per cent to 0.982 MT from 0.920 MT in the year-ago month. The output of long rolled products was flat at 0.308 MT last month. (ET).
Granules India's shareholders approved buyback worth Rs250cr. The board of directors of the company at their meeting held on January 21, 2020, had approved the proposal of Buyback of up to 1.25cr fully paid equity shares of the face value of Re1 each at a price of Rs200 per share aggregating up to Rs250cr. (BL).
Economy and Sector News
The United States (US) on Tuesday granted Chinese telecom giant Huawei another 45 days to continue doing business with American companies. The new provisional license expires on May 15. Prior to the extension, the previous license was set to expire on April 1. (BL).
The coronavirus outbreak will not have much impact on exports of cotton, Cotton Association of India (CAI) said on Friday projecting the overall shipments of the commodity for this season at 42 lakh bales. The cotton season begins from October. (ET).
The South Central Railway (SCR) and Singareni Collieries Ltd (SCCL) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a new railway line between Bhadrachalam Road-Sattupalli. This new line is being jointly developed by SCR and SCCL for transporting coal from mines located closer to SCCL in the Sattupalli area. (BL).
Saudi Aramco will boost its oil production capacity to 13 million barrels a day from 12 million, the company said in a statement Wednesday. The state producer will make the increase after being directed to do so by the country’s energy ministry, it said. (ET).

DJIA and NASDAQ Composite

US markets closed sharply lower on Wednesday as investors dealt with uncertainty around a fiscal response from the White House aimed at curbing reduced economic growth. The Dow Jones Index closed at 23,553, down 1,464.94 points by 5.86%. The Standard & Poors 500 index closed at 2,741 down 140.85 points by 4.89%. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 7,952, down 392.20 points by 4.70%.

FTSE 100

UK markets finished in the red on Wednesday even after an emergency rate cut by the Bank of England and the announcement of a big stimulus package by the Chancellor, with investors keeping a watchful eye on Wall Street and on Capitol H. The FTSE 100 index closed at 5,877, down 83.71 points by 1.40%.

Asian share markets started trading early in the morning on Thursday on a negative note as the investors will be closely watching the US markets. Nikkei is currently trading at 19,087, down 328.73 points by 1.69%.

Precious Metals

Gold futures gave up earlier gains to mark their lowest finish in over a week on Wednesday, despite losses in U.S. stocks, as investors await details on a U.S. fiscal stimulus plan from lawmakers to help limit the expected economic pain from the COVID-19 epidemic.

Base Metals

The London Metal Exchange three-month nickel price declined at the close of trading on Wednesday March 11, weakening against continued risk-aversion, while lead futures failed to hold above $1,800 per tonne.

Crude Oil

Oil futures ended lower on Wednesday, pressured by U.S. government data reporting domestic crude supplies rose for a seventh week in a row, and by Saudi Arabia’s move to increase output capacity, as it intensifies a price war with Russia that sent crude prices tumbling to four-year lows this week.
